Our Vision & Mission

Called to worship, grow, and serve in Christ's name across coastal Nova Scotia.

Our Vision

A Thriving Anglican Community

"To be a vibrant, Christ-centered Anglican community that serves as a beacon of hope and faith across the Musquodoboit and Ship Harbour regionsβ€”where all people encounter God's transforming love, grow in discipleship, and live out their calling to serve."

Our Mission

Our Mission

"To be a vibrant Anglican community that worships God with joy, grows in faith together, and serves our coastal communities with compassion and grace. We seek to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, welcoming all who seek to know God's love."

Our Core Values

These values guide everything we do as a parish community

Worship

We gather regularly to worship God through traditional Anglican liturgy, music, and sacraments. Our worship is both reverent and welcoming, honoring centuries of Christian tradition while remaining accessible to all.

"O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!" - Psalm 95:6

Community

We believe that faith is lived out in relationship with others. Our parish is a family where people of all ages and backgrounds find belonging, support, and friendship in Christ.

"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." - Matthew 18:20

Service

Following Christ's example, we are called to serve others with humility and love. We reach out to our communities through pastoral care, outreach programs, and acts of compassion.

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve." - Mark 10:45

Hospitality

Everyone is welcome in our churches. Whether you're a lifelong Anglican or exploring faith for the first time, you will find open doors and warm hearts ready to welcome you.

"Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you." - Romans 15:7

Stewardship

We are called to be faithful stewards of God's gifts - our time, talents, and resources. We care for our historic churches, support ministry, and invest in the next generation.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others." - 1 Peter 4:10

Tradition & Renewal

We honor the rich heritage of Anglican Christianity while remaining open to the Holy Spirit's leading. We value both ancient wisdom and fresh expressions of faith.

"See, I am making all things new." - Revelation 21:5

Our Ministry Focus

How we live out our mission in practical ways

Worship & Sacramental Life

At the heart of our parish life is the worship of God. We celebrate the Eucharist regularly, observe the seasons of the church year, and mark life's important moments through baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals. Our worship connects us to the global Anglican family and to centuries of faithful Christians who have gone before us.

Christian Formation

We are committed to helping people of all ages grow in their understanding of the Christian faith. Through Sunday School, confirmation classes, Bible studies, and adult education, we provide opportunities for spiritual growth and theological reflection. We believe that faith is a lifelong journey of learning and discovery.

Pastoral Care

Our clergy and lay ministers provide pastoral care to those in need - visiting the sick, comforting the bereaved, supporting families in crisis, and offering spiritual guidance. We believe that the church should be present in both the joyful and difficult moments of life.

Community Outreach

We seek to be a blessing to our wider communities through various outreach initiatives. From food drives to community events, we look for ways to serve our neighbors and demonstrate God's love in practical ways. Our coastal communities face unique challenges, and we strive to be a source of hope and support.

Coastal & Maritime Ministry

Living in coastal Nova Scotia, we have a special appreciation for the sea and those who make their living from it. Our parish has a long tradition of blessing fishing boats, supporting maritime families, and recognizing the unique rhythms of life in a coastal community. We give thanks for God's creation and pray for the safety of all who work on the water.

Looking Forward with Hope

As we look to the future, we are filled with hope and excitement for what God is doing in our parish. We are committed to:

  • β†’ Strengthening our worship life and deepening our spiritual practices
  • β†’ Engaging young people and families in meaningful ways
  • β†’ Expanding our outreach to serve those in need
  • β†’ Preserving our historic churches for future generations
  • β†’ Building partnerships with other churches and community organizations
  • β†’ Being good stewards of God's creation in our coastal environment
